Executive Committee
This committee consists of all the elected
officers and appointed standing chairs. It serves as the
planning and coordinating body, making recommendations
and taking actions that are in the interest of BAE.
Membership Committee
The Committee is the primary vehicle for
BAE’s recruitment of new members from executive staff in
the human services sector. The Membership Committee interviews
and recommendations regarding potential members; it also
provides orientation and support to new members.
Finance Committee
This committee concerns itself with all
matters pertaining to the financial operation and fundraising
initiatives of BAE, including the planning and review of
overall fiscal policies.
Retreat Committee
The Retreat Committee organizes and plans
the program for BAE’s Winter Retreats. These popular retreats
are an occasion for an exchange of information and experiences,
providing participants with a new perspective on major
issues affecting member organizations and the broader human
service community. Participation in the Winter Retreat
is open to BAE members and to invited guests.
Advocacy/Program Committee
This committee has taken on a new importance
with respect to policy changes involving welfare reform
and devolution of government responsibility. The committee
monitors the impact of legislative and regulatory changes
on BAE members, their organizations, and program constituents.
The Committee recommends various responses and plans activities
accordingly.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon Committee
The MLK Committee organizes and leads the
efforts of BAE’s annual tribute to the goals and ideals
of the late Nobel Prize Winner, Rev. Martin Luther King,
Jr. The luncheon is BAE’s major fundraising event.
Public Relations Committee
The committee is responsible for contact
with the news media-including efforts to obtain positive
publicity, response to requests for information and creation
of a public awareness of BAE and what it does.
Emerging Leaders Committee
This Committee organizes and plans the activities and programs of BAE aimed at nurturing
the personal and professional development of emerging leaders of African descent. The
committee is responsible for planning BAE’s fall retreat. This local retreat focuses on
attracting the participation of emerging leaders, exchanging of information and experiences
with those in current leadership positions, providing opportunities for mentorship, and
providing participants with new perspectives on major issues affecting our sector.
Leadership Learning Series Committee
This Committee plans and oversees the funding and production of BAE’s Annual Leadership
Learning Series. Black Agency Executives’ Leadership Learning Series are four learning
events designed to build the professional capacity of Black Executives, Board Members and
Managers who lead social service agencies in New York. Its aim is to ensure that these
voices continue to be raised in organizations that impact communities of color for a long
time to come. The series brings together leaders at all levels of management with the best
thinkers and successful peers, to address salient questions and challenges.
